Solidarity in trade would be an excellent idea but you need to get everyone on board. But if governments andlocal authorities can give preference to companies which pay the minimum wage or have good environmental standards then I don’t see why we can’t make trade union rights or social provision a condition of trading agreements. But there’s not a snowball’s chance in hell of that happening while any of the three main UK parties hold or share in power.
